- How Couple Therapy Works- Couples Therapy consists of 55-minute sessions that help you navigate your concerns. In addition to listening, I will share thoughts when it’s helpful and suggest alternatives based on patterns I observe. I play an active role. Here’s how it will work step-by-step:1- First, I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me. 2- I’ll ask you what you both hope for from couples therapy. 3- Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are. 4- Together, we’ll start identifying the unhelpful patterns you’re caught in. 5- Keeping your relationship hopes in mind, we’ll start to work out what’s needed to help you reach them. 6- Over the course of our sessions, you will encounter opportunities to start relating to yourself and to your partner in new ways.
