Hi, I'm Anna Wiederroth
The therapy I offer is psychodynamic and relational in nature, integrating attachment, trauma and somatic approaches. I apply a holistic approach, including mind, body and spiritual dimensions.
I help couples and individuals connect with their true self and experience more authentic relationships.
What is relational psychodynamic therapy?
I offer a space in which I help you to understand yourself and your experiences. We look beyond your conscious ideas and feelings, into less conscious aspects which motivate you and contribute to your problems. Your problems may be physical symptoms, difficulties in your work or intimate relationships, or problems with how you feel about the world and about yourself. To understand the unconscious processes at play, we explore your present life experience as well as early childhood experiences. We seek to understand how the past may be repeating itself in the present, and how to navigate your way out of unhelpful patterns. The therapy I offer seeks to provide you with a deeper, emotional understanding of your problems, not just an intellectual one.
The therapy I offer is generally longer and involves a deeper, more personal and emotional therapeutic experience. It seeks to offer change beyond the relief of symptoms, such as freeing up your capacity to love, work and to be creative and productive in ways authentic to you.
To receive the full benefit of this approach, a minimum of weekly therapy sessions is recommended. Other frequencies (e.g. fortnightly) can be considered.
My style as a therapist
I have a natural ability to put words to things that feel indescribable, and sense when something more is happening under the surface.
I listen to your experience from multiple levels, am curious, and will run my impressions past you to see how they fit with you.
I Embrace The Following Philosophies:
- I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated
- I believe that therapy works when both of us are committed to your healing
- I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work
My Professional Background
I started working as a registered psychologist in 2010, and received a Masters in Clinical Psychology at the Queensland University of Technology in 2014. I completed the Clinical Registrar program and have been a Clinical Psychologist since 2017. I am a STAP accredited Supervisor and offer Supervision.
I engage in regular professional development (e.g. courses, reading), supervision, as well as my own therapy.
